Jesse needed help with reading. He had only known English 2 years and needed to pass STARR tests in English to move on to 6th grade the last half of the school year. He was always ready to work and we read, answered questions, learned vocabulary words he didn’t know, and talked about test taking strategies. In the end, Jesse passed his STARR tests and did in fact move on to 6th grade. The smile on his face the day he told me he had passed was priceless! This year he is coming back and volunteering in our after-school Kids Club along with 9 other middle school students who are former Kids Club attendees. We are blessed to have them return voluntarily and give back to their school! It was a pleasure to work with him
