August 8th, all staff at Colonial Hills Elementary School were served a “Welcome Back-to-School” breakfast. It was the Friday before school started. Teachers were trained and prepped. Students had met their teachers and brought their backpacks and school supplies to school the night before. Staff were ready for students and anticipating the beginning of school. We had a great morning of breakfast sandwiches, fruit, yogurt, granola bars, snack packs, and fruit drinks. Extra school supplies were available for teachers who might have students come with no supplies. The principal encouraged all who were there and I prayed with the staff for the year ahead of them. Please keep Colonial Hills in your prayers throughout the year.
Kids Club will begin September 23rd and we are looking forward to seeing familiar as well as new faces. Please pray that as we teach New Testament Bible stories this year students will understand the great love God has for them and trust in the salvation Jesus died to offer them. Thank God with us for the faithful team of volunteers who pour so much love into these students each week. And thank God that He continues to allow us to be in this public school shedding the light of the Word on this campus.
As fall and winter are on the horizon, please be on the lookout for coats and jackets for boys and girls sizes 7-16 or adult small to medium. The Colonial Hills Family Specialist has requested that we collect gently used and new coats and jackets for the students. If you have some at home that are no longer needed by your family that are still in excellent condition we would appreciate receiving them. If you find a “great buy” somewhere and would like to pick some up for students in need, that would be great too. We will be happy to receive coats and jackets any time. Please call 210-846-9096 or email: jcvelasquezsa55@gmail.com to set a time for drop-off.
